Arts & Crafts Festival 2019

Last year’s Arts & Crafts Festival was such a success that planners want this year’s festival to be twice as big. (Click here to view information about the 2018 Arts & Crafts Festival)

The festival is scheduled for Saturday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Seymour Public Library grounds at 137 West Macon Lane, at the western end of the Kroger shopping complex. Sign-up for booths starts on line Feb. 1.

Many local businesses expressed an interest in having booths last year, said Chuck Cook, president of Friends of Seymour Library, which hosts the fair. This year he proposes to include booths for sponsoring businesses and for non-profit organizations, so that the event will have the feel of a Community Expo.

Sign-up begins Feb. 1 on the Friends of Seymour Branch Library Facebook page, or Anyone needing help with computer registration can ask the library staff for help.

Payment can be made online. The cost for arts and crafts booths is $35. Business sponsorships are $250 and may include a booth space if desired.  A limited number of non-profits, including church outreach groups, may register and set up a booth for free. Preference will be given to groups who use the library meeting room on a regular basis.

“We hope to at least double the size of the event this year and utilize the field where the future library expansion will take place,” Cook told festival planners who met to discuss the event Jan. 11. The library, normally closed on Saturdays, will be open from 9 a.m. to noon. It’s hoped that more food will be available than last year. A silent auction is also planned.

Friends of Seymour Library has been raising funds for a future expansion of the library building, which is cramped for space and often crowded. Sevier County Commission has already bought additional land adjacent to the library and has set aside $1 million for the project. A plan of the proposed expansion will be on display at the festival. All festival proceeds will benefit the Expansion Fund.
